It has been quite the journey, and we are so happy to announce that Vadette’s house is finally finished!
This all started back in the Fall of 2015, when one of our employees, Sheila Lynch, announced that she was leaving to go back to Haiti and continue working to help women build a life for themselves there.
Sheila, who had left her ministry in Haiti to raise her kids state-side, had visited Haiti to check up on how the ministry was doing. After her visit, she knew she needed to return to Haiti and finish what she had started.
We found out through Sheila that one of the ladies that went through her sewing school there in Port Au Prince, was in need of a home to help keep her daughters safe from some unspeakable things. CrossFields decided to partner with Sheila to gift a home to this mom in need, Vadette, and create a place of safety and refuge for her young girls to grow up in.
Construction began and the structure was finished in the fall of 2015. Vadette finally had a home over her own head, and we couldn’t be more excited for her and her daughters. She was settling into her new village, where homes are being built, wells are being dug and churches being planted.
Then, just a few weeks after she had moved, Hurricane Matthew hit Haiti, but because Vadette was in her new home, she and her family were safe.
The village has been recovering from the hurricane and Vadette is thriving. She is able to work from home, and drive to Port Au Prince only when needed. Dream come true, indeed!
